Let's look at the attendance area and how we can submit absence requests in Skyward.

We'll click on the Attendance tile on our main dashboard.

Under the Attendance Details at the top, we'll see a list of every recorded absence or tardy for the current school year, including the total number of days absent, the excused and unexcused breakdown, and tardy counts.

The Legend icon in the top-right corner will show us what the attendance codes mean.

For more details, like the class description and any comments, we'll click the arrow icon next to the record.

Next to the Attendance Details, we can click on the Absence Request tab to view absences.

To add a request, we'll select Add Absence Request.

Under Absence Request Details, we'll enter the days our student will not be in school.

If we uncheck the All Day box, we can enter a start and end time they'll be gone.

In this example, we'll select Doctor or Dentist Visit for the attendance reason and enter a comment for the office.

We can add an attachment or copy this request for a sibling if multiple children will be absent.

When we're done, we'll save this request at the top of our screen, and we'll see our request pending approval.

Once the office approves it, the status will change from Pending to Approved.
