Thinking about going to iCon but need some assistance getting your boss on board? We’re here to help! From a video demonstration to a proposal letter, we’ve got everything you need to pitch this opportunity to up your Skyward game.

Let’s dive in!

First up, a video. Join this enthusiastic employee as she chats with her boss about the perks of attending iCon. Find out if he says yes!

Next, we did the heavy lifting for you and wrote a proposal letter. Copy this template, fill in the blanks, and customize it to fit your role and personality. Then send it on its way! But don’t wait too long: give your manager enough heads up so you can lock in early bird pricing and cheaper flights.

Here’s the template:

-----

Dear [manager’s name],

I am writing to express interest in attending iCon, Skyward’s international conference.

iCon is the premier professional development event for Skyward users. There are more than 80 sessions, a chance to meet 1:1 with the Skyward team to ask questions, and opportunities to connect with fellow Skyward users from around the world.

In looking over the sessions, I’m especially excited about [talk about sessions that would be particularly helpful to you and your district].

I’m also excited about meeting Skyward users in similar roles to mine. I’ll be able to talk with them about the creative ways they’re using Skyward, then bring some of their best practices back home to our district.

Please check out the iCon website. It includes the conference agenda and additional information about the event.

My estimate for the total cost of attending iCon is [estimate]. Here is a breakdown of these expenses:
  • Conference fee: $650 (early bird rate) $700 (regular rate)
  • Airfare: [$]
  • Hotel: [$]
  • Transportation to/from the hotel: [$]
  • Meals: [$]
I am confident attending iCon will be a worthwhile investment. The conference will be a great opportunity to learn more about the software we already have and find out how we can use it more effectively. If we can simplify processes and save our district time and money going forward, this will be an investment that keeps paying off for years to come.

Thank you for your consideration!

We hope these resources help you convey to your boss what iCon is all about and what it can offer your district. Good luck; we hope to see you there!
