Hi, I'm Nickey, and when I was teaching, I welcomed any opportunity to make the attendance process more user friendly. Did you know that you have a few different options for taking attendance in Skyward? Let's take a look and see if we can't uncover something new.

Attendance Basics

Let's start with the basics. You can get to attendance either through your Teacher Quick Access widget or by using the Teacher Access drop-down.

The first option you'll see is the traditional "Attendance by Name" selection. Click here to do a quick, list-style update. Notice how student alerts and indicators show up on the left side of the screen.

You can also try attendance by seating chart. Click "show pictures" near the top of your screen to make this even easier. This option comes in handy early in the school year, before you've had a chance to put faces to names.

Select attendance status using the drop-down and add comments for future reference.

Mobile App Attendance

Don't want to be stuck at your desk? Try taking attendance through the mobile app.

Here, you can see all students with thumbnail pictures and quickly identify who's in class and who's not. You'll see a green success indicator when your changes have been saved.

Roll call doesn't have to take chunks out of your instructional time.

Work smarter with Skyward's flexible attendance options. Stay tuned for the next Quick Hits for Teachers, coming soon.
