For years, Grand Haven Area Public Schools relied on a financial system that worked, but increasingly held the district back. As expectations for transparency, efficiency, and modern controls grew, the limitations of the legacy platform became harder to ignore.
“Our previous system had served the district for many years,” said Michael MacDonald, executive director of business services, “but it was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain and expand.”
The district needed a solution that could adapt to its long‑term goals, support evolving processes, and provide clearer insight into financial operations.

“We’re focusing on expanding financial dashboards, further streamlining purchasing workflows, continuing staff training, and integrating additional automation tools,” MacDonald shared.
Each improvement brings the district closer to fully leveraging the platform’s capabilities.

Looking to the future, GHAPS plans to further leverage Qmlativ to support data‑driven decision‑making, improve budget transparency, and enhance reporting for administrators and the Board of Education.
“Ultimately, our goal is to use the system not just as a financial platform, but as a tool that helps support strategic decision‑making across the district,” said MacDonald.
