Qmlativ Spotlight: Qmlativ as an Identity Provider

Your district can now use Qmlativ as an identity provider (IdP).

Allowing Qmlativ to function as an IdP will streamline access to external district applications, allowing users to authenticate once with their Qmlativ credentials and seamlessly access other systems.

Here are the highlights:

  • Single sign-on (SSO): Log in once and access multiple systems without re-entering credentials.
  • Faster access: Launch applications directly from Qmlativ or log in through external apps using Qmlativ credentials.
  • Custom app visibility: Admins can control which users see which applications.
  • A personalized experience: Users can pin frequently used apps for quick access.
  • Reduced IT burden: Fewer password resets and login issues for support teams.
  • Enhanced external links: The “External Links” area now includes both traditional links and district-configured applications. It also clearly indicates whether Qmlativ can directly authenticate the user or simply redirect them.

How does it work?

Within the System Module, administrators can set up applications to be used with the Qmlativ IdP. Working with the vendors of applications, you’ll enter the URLs and metadata of the applications you want users to be able to log into. During the setup process, you can define which users/groups of users are able to see and interact with these applications, as well as whether the end-user has the ability to pin the applications they use regularly.

How do we get started?

Talk to your vendors to see if this would be an appropriate feature to use with your third-party applications. You can start the setup process at Administrative Access > Security > Applications.

Work smarter, not harder with Qmlativ as an IdP!
