While comparing different solutions, certain types of data can help make an informed decision.

Proven methodology

Has the software been tested by actual customers? This data may include user experience testing, third-party integrations, scholarly research, and replicable results from multiple customers.

A special note: the term “research” is often thrown around casually nowadays. Scholarly research sets itself apart from research conducted in-house by a vendor. Clues that research is worth trusting: it’s conducted by a neutral party who did not receive compensation from the vendor and uses a large subject group.

Execution of history

It’s another way to say that people use this software and like it. But you don’t have to take the vendor’s word for it! Ask your edtech vendor for references you can chat with one-on-one. It’s a red flag if they prefer to control the narrative since district leaders love to share great experiences with peers.

Capabilities of optimal software

Here’s the formula: [The potential of a strong implementation] + [strategic training + great support after go-live] = optimal software solution. It’s not just the software and implementation, it’s also the strong customer support with your district’s unique goals in mind that reaches the pinnacle of edtech capabilities.

Follow-up on implementation

What IS the plan for post-implementation training, anyway? You’ll need a way to assign and track relevant training for users across the district and beyond. Your vendor team should be quick to provide practical self-help tools to support your training efforts, so the process is less manual and more scalable.

Choosing your champions

Finally, the human element is just as important to our data. Creating a team of users from all walks of life will provide the data analysis you need, since everyone will interpret it through a different lens.
