STEVENS POINT, Wis. (December 23, 2021) – Skyward, a school administration software provider committed to helping K-12 leaders spend less time on tasks and more time with students, is excited to announce their scholarship winners from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point and Mid-State Technical College for the 2021-2022 academic year. Each year Skyward employees fund these scholarships, which are awarded to students receiving technology and business-related degrees.

Four UW-Stevens Point students received scholarships from Skyward, making 62 recipients to date. The recipients include Benjamin Smits of Shawano, Katelyn Weiler of Wisconsin Rapids, Kelli Schlesinger of Madison, and Sophia Mccarty of De Pere. All four students are pursuing majors in computer information systems with a variety of different minors, such as business, mathematics, and art.

“The Computing and New Media Technologies Department values our partnership with Skyward and the generous support their employees provide to our scholarship program,” said Tomi Heimonen, department chair. “Support from organizations like Skyward has significant impact on our students' ability to complete their degrees at UW-Stevens Point and prepare for their future careers in computing.”

Recipients from Mid-State include Noah Woyak of Stevens Point and Johnathon Klamrowski of Pittsville. Both students are pursuing degrees in information technology. Since 2002, Skyward has supported students enrolled at Mid-State, with 56 scholarships awarded to date.

“Mid-State Technical College Foundation believes in strong industry connection and enjoys our continued partnership with Skyward and its employees,” said Jill Steckbauer, foundation and alumni director at Mid-State. “The support of individuals and businesses, such as Skyward, helps defer the high cost of higher education, while helping students achieve their dream of an in-demand degree,” Steckbauer added.

Skyward’s academic scholarships are funded through employee donations and company-matched contributions. They represent Skyward’s commitment to education and enriching the technology career field. Skyward is fortunate and proud to continue its long-standing tradition of supporting area academics.
